The first lab is about identifying the First order and Second order Transfer Function off Single Board Heater System (SOBS). The SSH is hosted under virtual labs on a remote server and you have to access it remotely and perform experiments. Here Is the list of things you have to do for the first lab.

Things to be done for first submission: 1 . Go to http://blabs. Tift. AC.

In/sobs/. Download the file Tutorial guide for Windows users. This Is an audio video tutorial. Watch this tutorial to learn how to use the ritual laboratory for SOBS.Although the video uses Scylla;5.

3. 3 for demonstration, you are expected to use the latest version of Scalia which is Scalia-5. 4. 1.

2. Give a step change in the Heater input from 50% to after 300 seconds I. E. Run the experiment with heater =50% for 300 seconds and then give a step change of 30% In heater. The Coos Step Input block parameters are Step time 300, Initial value = 50 and final value = 80. Run this experiment for around 700 seconds or till the temperature reaches a steady state, whichever is greater.

Remember to save the output plot before you close Scalia. . You have the log file with you which has all the variable values. SE this file to plot the parameters later in case if you forget to save the plot generated by Scalia. See the Step Analysis code to know how to read from files and plot.

4. If you want to do a fresh experiment again, note that you have to restart Scalia and re-execute the python file (run. Bat file for windows users). 1 If you run the Scalia code directly without executing/re-executing the python file then you will get network error message on Scalia console or Scalia will simply plot your previous experiment file In real time. 5.

Download the Step analysis code from the Downloads section on SOBS virtual lab home page. . Locate the data/log file created automatically in the Steepest directory and copy it to the Kip-taut-orders folder in the Step Analysis folder. In case if you have run the experiment multiple times, you may have more than one data file. So, make sure you copy the correct data file. Also, If you happen to loose your data file, you can download it from the website after you login.

7. Start Scalia and change the directory to Kip-taut-orders folder. Open the file offertories virtual. See and in the second line, enter your downloaded data file name tit extension.

For example, "1 soulfully 17 20 35. Txt".Execute the . See flee and it will give you the value of Kip and taut on the Scalia console, the first order transfer function.

8. Create a . Txt file with value of taut in the first row (for egg. 40, and not taut=40) and value of Kip (for egg. 0. 8, and not the second row.

This value of Kip and taut Is the one which you obtained after the first order analysis. Name this file as answers . Txt. 1 OFF folder with your surname you use to login on the SOBS virtual lab interface. This folder will hence contain two files. Compress the folder to RA/zip and submit it.

Only ar/zip submissions will be accepted.Zip and other submissions WI not be evaluated. Please make sure that you compress the folder and not directly the files. Since the assessment will be done by an automated script checker, please do not make any spelling mistakes and use your own login ID to perform the experiment. Things to be done for second submission: 1 . Study the First order analysis code and come up with a second order analysis code.

The second order code that you will create should be 2 able to give you a second order transfer function I. E. Value of gain (Kip) and the two time constants namely tall and taut. 2.

Create a . Ext file with value of tall in the first row, value of taut in the second row and value of Kip in the third row in the same manner as we did for first order. These values of Kip, tall and taut are the one which you obtained after the performing second order analysis on your data file. Name the . Txt file as answers.

Txt. 3. Write a report of about two-four pages on this experiment. Following are the points your report should include.

(a) Your name and Roll No. (b) Aim and related theory. Derivations are not expected. (c) Screen shots or images for illustration. The inclusion of output graph is however compulsory.

D) Conclusion/interpretation. . Put the files, answers. Txt, data/log file as step. Data and the report in to a folder.

Name the folder with your surname you use to login on the SOBS virtual lab interface. This folder will hence contain three files. Compress the folder to RA/zip and submit it. Please make sure that you compress the folder and not directly the files. Since the assessment will be done by an automated script checker, please do not make any spelling mistakes and use your own login ID to perform the experiment. Instructions for Linux users : Follow the tutorial with the following changes for Linux users 1 .

Install python from he Synaptic Package manager. It is k if it installs python 2. 6 version but not python version 3 2. After editing the settings. Txt file as per the tutorial, you can run the python file subsistent.

Pay by typing python subsistent. Pay command in the terminal. 3. To start Scalia ; Uncompress the Scalia tar. Go installer file. 3 ; Go to the bin directory of the extracted folder ; Double click on the Scalia file available here and choose run.

4. Change the Scalia working directory to the Steepest folder. 5. Open the file steps. See in Scalia and then execute it.

Note that double clicking of file will not work as in windows.
