Today there are more and more realistic games coming out with special effects and graphics, therefore there are more and more people demanding for more games. And so new game consoles come out regularly as the technology improves and so the new game consoles are often more expensive and more fun to play with.

The Nintendo Wii has a slim cool techno design and its games are stored on cards similar to camera SD cards, Nintendo Wii has a nunchuk cordless controller, Some have an additional online library to download games, Some game controllers contain motion sensors, Game consoles sometimes helps you become fit because of it’s new technology makes you move around when playing games especially sport games, and the Sony play station 3 has a blu- ray disc which is capable of holding six times as much data than today’s DVDs.

Disadvantages:

It is very expensive, Makes you become very addictive as most game consoles do, The DS light on the Nintendo DS can go really, really bright, which is good in the dark but in the light it can blind you and it can also make you unfit if you just sit down with the controller and play games non-stop.

How it meets their needs:

It is easy to carry around as it is becoming smaller and thinner as new game consoles are made, it allows user to download games, it holds a lot of data due to blu-ray disc, As technology improves there are new parts and pieces of technology which can be used on game console and plugged into the game console making it more fun to play with, and it can help you become fit as new technology makes you move around more whilst using the game console.

Consequences of the user not having access of ict:

It won’t be able to download games from the internet, and it will have much less storage space, also the effects will be minimised.

2.Laptop Users

Laptop technology is becoming more and more popular today as more technology is coming out, people prefer to use laptops now as they are small to carry, and as all the new types of technology is coming out they are becoming more and more popular, like now windows vista has come out replacing windows xp which you can buy on cd at a very high price of about �280 to use on your computer or laptop.

Benefits of using laptops:

They are small and easy to carry around, they can be used in many places with wireless technology, Laptops are fully functional computers, able to run the same software as a desktop computer, they can read and burn CDs, when using a laptop, it is much easier to exchange files with other people, If the user knows how to operate a desktop computer, little additional training is required to use a laptop.

Disadvantages of using Laptops:

A little more setup is involved when using laptops, There is a learning curve for both hardware and software, When using it in other places the battery can run out quite quickly so it will need to be recharged, When using it in other places you cant print as you cant carry a printer wherever you go, it takes quite long to set up it takes minutes to boot up a the laptop and thirty seconds if resuming function from a sleep or hibernation mode, they are quite a high cost (more than computers) and laptops tend to break down or have problems quite quickly (quicker than computers)

How it meets their needs:

Laptops helps them to be able to take their work wherever they wanted, Saves owners of laptops from being strapped to a desk all day, but having a laptop it can be taken anywhere you like, Like a notebook can save a document on it and take the laptop with you to show someone or something like that etc…, it helps them communicate with other people using emails, it gives them the internet if installed to research anything they like, Databases are a good easy way to store information showing it clearly and boldly to read, and word processing software’s make documents and letters look neat and impressive.

Consequences of the user not having access to ict:

They’d need to work in office where the computers are plugged into electricity unlike laptop would have been wireless so could be taken wherever owner would

have liked, Big computers were used taking a lot of room and space, Methods of communication would only be by post so it’s a slow method of communication with suppliers and customers, All documents and letters would have to be hand written taking longer and not looking so neat, and No internet therefore have to use the old fashioned way of research which is through books and newspapers.

3.Ipod/Mp3 Users:

Ipods and mp3 players are becoming more and more advandaced through the years, ipods and mp3 players are now coming out with more space, pictures are able to be viewed on it, you can watch videos and play games ipods also send podcasts.

Benefits:

They are small and compact so easy to cacrry around, they can view pictures on ipods and mp3 players, Ipods can tell when you’re not listening to music so if you pull out the headphones from the ipod the music will pause, Some ipods offer 14 languages, Ipods and Mp3 players are quite expensive depending on the memory size, Some mp3 players and all ipods can be charged on the computer so there’s no need for buying lots of batteries, The Philips jukebox mp3 player has a FM radio, The Samsung YP-D1 mp3 player has a built in microphone, FM radio in which you can record off the radio, The Logitech MM32 mp3 player Switches and buttons are on the front of the device, making them easily located and accessible, and The apple video ipod can play audio books

Disadvantages:

They can easily break, The Sony Walkman NW-E005 MP3 Player doesn’t allow you to delete tracks from the gadget itself, The apple ipod nano scratches very easily

You can’t plug the apple ipod nano into your car and listen to music unlike some mp3 players, the SanDisk Sansa e250 MP3 Player takes long to set up, The SanDisk Sansa e280 MP3 Player doesn’t allow you to create your own playlists and The Creative Zen Vision MP3 Player doesn’t include the charger when brought, must buy it separately.

How it meets the users needs:

It allows them to listen to music where ever they are, can charge on computer and so batteries are not needed to keep on being brought, Has many different languages for different people, can listen to the radio as well as songs of your choice, Microphone can be used on some and so cit can be used for different purposes such as audio revision etc…and it can store pictures and videos on some ipods and mp3 players.

Consequences of the user not having ict access:

They won’t be able to charge ipod on computer and so it cant be used as it cant use batteries might have to be charged through the car power, it cannot transfer music onto ipod or mp3 player from the computer, Mp3 player wont be able to be charged on the computer and so many batteries will need to be used costing money, they cannot transfer images from computer onto ipod or mp3 player, and it can not transfer videos from computer on to ipod or mp3 player.

4.Digital Camera Users:

Digital cameras are also advancing, the quality and picture is becoming better and more clear. Some cameras have a mini screen showing the video or pictures as you take it. The mega pixel is also increasing and so the zoom on the camera has better quality and makes the picture/ video not looked zoomed into but as if your recording from right in front of the scene.

Benefits:

You can know immediately if picture is worth saving as you can view in front of you and delete it if you don’t want it, it can record videos as well as take pictures, it can store many picture on a little memory card, it will enhance pictures on computer and camera, it can upload pictures onto computer, and you can choose specific pictures you would like to print and upload onto a cd to print.

Disadvantages:

It will need to be recharged quite a lot, the size and resolution of the image is generally extremely limited because of the limited data storage space, Cameras are expensive, there’s a wide dynamic range it has the ability to retain detail in shadows , and some cameras take a while to save an image.

How it meets their needs:

They can store many pictures and videos clips due to the different sizes of memory cards which can be brought, they are small and so it’s easy to carry around, it can easily upload images and video clips onto computer, also cameras can easily transfer images and video clips onto camera, they use memory card from a camera containing all images and video clips to print of pictures easily at a photo machine or photo shop and users can carry wherever you want as they are powered on batteries.

It will not be able to upload images and videos onto computer from the camera and won’t be able to can transfer images and videos from computer onto camera.
