The Internet Privacy Disadvantages The technology industry has grown extremely fast since sass, especially during World War I when people invented a lot of war machine.

In 1969, scientists already created their own ARPANET, an early form of the Internet, to communicate with each other throughout the United States. Since then, the technology industry has grown like never before, and the Internet, a part of technology industry, becomes more and more popular on earth. The Internet helps people have easier access to online resources in many purposes, and one of the easy accesses is to connect or communicate with each other through social networking sites such as Backbone, Twitter, and Namespace. However, as Eric Chard stated in his essay, "We're All Celebrities in Post-privacy Age," by revealing too much privacy information on the Web, students might have many problems of seeking for Jobs.

First, the amount of young children and students nowadays that have access to the Internet is very high.In the article "Is the Internet hurting children", Chelsea Clinton and James P. Setter said that ninety percent of American children already eave online activities by the age of two, and at age five, fifty percent of children use computer or tablet regularly. Teenagers text with each other thousands of times every month, and this absolutely will create the habit of using the Internet for children and students since they are young.

Therefore, the amount of students that would reveal their privacy information on the Internet will also increase along with the amount of student users on the Internet. The fact is that many teenagers or young students tend to share their information online more than they did in the past (Madden). Moreover, "many younger people Just don't think in terms of their future employability, of identity theft, of legal problems if they're being provocative" (Henley). This problem would strongly affect students when they post something sensitive and negative on the Internet. And the problem is not Just that when they keep defending their points of view and attack people with the hate speech, a type of speech that many young people commit.

A Vietnamese girl posted on Backbone about how she hates her parents for not letting her liking a Korean boy band. What she said was that she prefers that boy band over her parents, and she's ailing to kill her parents to express her love for the boy band. As the result, she got punished by her school by having immorality and negatively attitude to her parents. In brief, the government, educators, and parents should pay more attention about their future individual, students, and children when they use the Internet.

And students by themselves have to understand that they now have to take responsibility for what they do on the Internet, and to avoid what would happen, they need to protect their privacy. In addition, the students' privacy on the Internet would be found a lot when they apply for Jobs. Companies, employers, and managers might not trust a student who's looking for a Job with the face-to-face interview, and what they would do is that they will find that student's information online Just to see if that student is the right one for their empty Job position. In the past, not many of companies or employers used this technique, but nowadays, a lot of hiring companies say that it is important to know a student's information in order to convince them to hire that student (Heavenliest). Heavenliest also points out the some of the most concerns that hiring managers look for is drug use, inappropriate photos and status posted online, poor communication, and bad mouthed about the previous employers. In the research, they found that one-third of hiring managers who use social networking sites said that they did not even consider to interview candidates after they found some of the candidates' information.

Catering Fake, one of the founders of the photo sharing site Flicker, said that the site once requested all of the photos have to be public (Rottener 286). This will cause many people lose the control of their privacy, and of ours the hiring managers will not have any better chance to check out their candidates' information than this. Even though many people feel confident about controlling their privacy on social networking sites, they still have to be careful because of hackers as well as the government.According to a report, about 600,000 Backbone accounts are hacked daily Carrion). And during the end of the year of 2013, 2 million Backbone, Google, Twitter, Yahoo and about 93,000 websites accounts had been hacked by hackers in only one month (Bagpiper). These numbers brings up the concern about social networking site privacy.

Students who are looking for Jobs have better pay more attention to their privacy on the Internet because none of them is sure if they are the victims of hackers or not.The online privacy is not only hacked by illegal hackers but it is also under controlled by the organization of government which is NSA (National Security Agency). "Watch What You Say' is a warning following after the title "The NSA Is Building the Country Biggest Spy Center" on a news site Wired (Bombard). Even though this is a warning for everybody, but as it says, everybody including students have to be careful about their posts on the Internet. Politics is always a sensitive topic to talk about. And of course hiring companies do not want their employees involving to any of the sensitive problems.

As people all notice that when they are browsing on the computers, advertisement companies somehow know what people have shopped, so they can post some of the advertisements on the people browsers. This means companies and government know what people are doing on the Internet. Therefore, it is understandable when people think that they are safe with their privacy, but they do not know that somehow they are under controlled by some organizations. For example, not long ago, my dad applied for the account of USPS, and while creating his account, he got to answer three of the secret questions, and surprisingly all of the questions are related to his family information. One question is that what the last name of his sister's husband is, another one is what the address zip code of his youngest brother is, and the last one is when his mother came to the U.

S. And he was required to answer correctly in order to match their information about him. Since then, he feels very anxiety and uncomfortable that how do they know about his privacy. In brief, the numbers and the example above tell students that they should be more and more careful about their privacy and what they say on the Internet.

In conclusion, Chard is correct when he says that students will have problems seeking for Jobs when they have too much privacy information available for the public. It is important to protect privacy and be careful about what to say not only when students are applying for Jobs but as well as for their safety. The amount of hiring managers who use social networking sites to value a candidates is increasing, so students have to pay more attention at hat they say.
